Bend FC Timbers & Thorns

Future Timbers (U7-U8)

Players Born: 2016 & 2017

The Bend FC Future's program for U6 (2017) & U7 (2016) players is designed for players who have a real 'early age' passion for soccer. The program is an introduction to Bend FC and is designed to teach age appropriate coaching sessions to our young players with a view to advancing through our club system over many years. This is a FREE OF CHARGE program.

Bend FC is proud to announce that registration is now open for the FUTURES ACADEMY as we head into the 2022/23 soccer year!

FUTURES  is a free program open to boys and girls of 2016 & 2017 birth years who are looking for a comprehensive, introductory soccer experience. All players  will receive 1 session per week for 6 weeks in the Fall & 6 weeks in the Spring, lead by our coaching staff.

Based on ability and coaching staff evaluations during the Fall season the Spring portion of the program will be on an invitational basis. We will also hold other supplemental programming at other stages of the year to cater for ALL players who want to learn and improve at the sport of soccer with Bend FC.

On occasions we will also get the players together for Sunday scrimmages.

Space is limited within the Future's Program and we  encourage interested players to register early.

**The Bend FC Futures Program is not a recreation based program. It is a serious soccer environment appropriate to the age of the players**

During the Future's practices players are taught fundamental soccer skills, then put into small sided (2v2, 3v3, 4v4) games to find their own way to use them on the field. While traditional recreation programs play 6v6, 7v7 or 8v8, fewer players on the field ensures each player gets more touches on the ball, and plays a bigger part of the game. Coaches will follow a curriculum so players are learning new skills each week within small sided games. With a player centered environment coaches allow players the opportunity to experiment, try things, and make their own decisions. There is no offciating and players keep score (or not), with an emphasis on trying new skills rather than winning. In addition, parents are encouraged to be kept back from the side of the field to create less of a gallery feel. This is an important part of the process.

All our staff are licensed soccer coaches and are  experienced in working with these age groups.

Fundamental and important techniques such as dribbling, passing, shooting, receiving, 1v1 play etc. in a very positive, energetic and welcoming environment will be taught while having fun and giving our young players the opportunity to learn skills and build confidence within the sport. We want to create a long lasting love of the game and players who want to play for the club in the many years ahead.

Future Timbers does not play official matches however we regularly play small-sided (3v3, or 4v4) games during practice to get a feel for live game action and understand the basic rules. This maximizes individual touches on the ball during a scrimmage scenario, in addition to the hundreds of touches each day during technical skill work.

We hope to see your Future Timber's player on the soccer fields! Registration is below.
