3 v 3 Frequently Asked Questions

When does registration close?

Registration will close Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at midnight or when a bracket is full due to limited field space.  Schedules will be released on/before Monday, June 7, 2021.  

Who can participate?

At this time the Broken Top 3v3 Shootout is open to participants from anywhere.    

What does a team need to register?

Teams will need to pay a $250 registration fee, provide proof of age, and a minimum of 4 players in order to register.

Do players need USYS player cards or US CLUB Soccer cards?

No, each player will be privately insured, not needing traditional “player cards”

Are players and coaches required to wear masks?

All players and coaches will be required to wear a mask during tournament play.

Where will the games be played?

All games will be played at the Bend FC Timbers Soccer Complex located at Pine Nursery Park, 3750 NE Purcell Blvd, Bend OR.

How many players per team?

6 players maximum per team, with a minimum of 4 players per team.

How many games are guaranteed?

Your team will play in at least 4 games and perhaps more if they make it to the championship rounds.

How long are the games?

Games are 12-minute halves with a 1-minute halftime break.  All games will be started and stopped simultaneously with an airhorn from tourney headquarters. 

Are there goalkeepers in each game?

No, only field players.

Can players and parents sit on the same side of the field?

Only players and coaches will be allowed inside the soccer complex.  Parents are welcome to sit outside the complex fence line, in incompliance with State guidelines due to Covid. 

Are dogs allowed at the tournament?

No dogs allowed inside the Bend FC Timbers Soccer Complex located at Pine Nursery. Dogs must be kept on leashes, except in designated off-leash dog area.

What are the age birth dates that define each age group?

We use the USYS birth year for determining a player’s “Tournament Age”. (ie: all players born in 2008 are considered U-14)
** Please note that a player may play in a division older than his/her age but not in a younger division

Who can coach?

A coach may be a parent, volunteer, or professional coach. One coach/manager per team sideline at U12 and under only.  U13 and above will self direct.  Only designated and rostered coaches are allowed on team sidelines. Additionally, a maximum of two coaches may be listed on each roster and will need to sign a waiver to participate. We do mandate that the coach of your team treats his/her players and referees with respect and dignity.

What can be used for Proof of Age?

Any of the following is acceptable – Player pass, passport (copy), birth certificate (copy), or driver's license.

Who has to be at Check-in?

Only one manager and/or team member must check-in 1 hour before their 1st scheduled game to submit the COVID RELEASE and LIABILITY RISK WAIVER and obtain ROSTER.   Please have proof of age for each player available at each game in case of an age/identity protest. No teams are allowed in the BFCT Soccer Complex until 10 minutes prior to kick-off.

Can I change my roster after I register?

Yes. If you need to make changes to your roster please feel free to do so on the google survey HERE no later than midnight midnight of Jun 1,  2021.  All rosters are frozen at that time.   

How do I get to the Park and Check-in Site?


What happens if there are not enough teams of my gender/age level to form a division?

When there are limited teams in certain divisions, the tournament directors will do our best to combine age and skill divisions as needed. 

What are the requirements for uniforms?

Halloween costumes are recommended but not required.  If a team chooses not to wear costumes,  they must wear similar colored jerseys. Numbers are not required, and jerseys do not have to be identical, just close enough so that it is clear that the players are on the same team. An alternate set of pinnies will be available should there be a conflict.

Are players required to wear Shin Guards?

All players are required to wear Shin Guards. Players without Shin Guards will not be permitted to play.

What are the dimensions of 3v3 fields and goals?

Fields are 25 yards wide by 35 yards long.   Goals are 2″5″ X 3’11”

Will teams be accepted into the tournament after the deadline?

The deadline (for guaranteed acceptance) is shown on the web site. After that date, teams can still apply, however, your team will only be added if there is room in your division.

Refund Policy

Teams understand that there will be no refunds granted for any reason after the registration deadline. There will be a $25 administrative fee for teams withdrawing from the tournament prior to June 1, 2021.  If COVID-19 protocols restrict tournament play, a full refund minus credit card fees will be issued to all teams.

What happens in the case of foul weather?

Prior to the day of the event, the Tournament Director will make a decision regarding schedule changes, delays, or postponement due to the forecasted weather or field conditions.  A full refund minus credit card fees will be issued to all teams should this occur on the day of.

During the event, games will be played through the rain as long as the weather does not become severe; particularly in the case of Storms with Lightning, play will be suspended until conditions improve and it is safe to resume play. Conditions will be checked every 30 minutes and the decision to resume play will be considered every 30 minutes until play can be resumed. Games can be shortened or modified if needed to complete the event during bad weather conditions. Should games be canceled on the day of the event a $25 refund/per game will be issued to each affected team.
