Non-Discrimination Policy
1. Purpose
The purpose of this Non-Discrimination Policy is to affirm Bend FC’s commitment to providing an environment that is free from discrimination and promotes fairness, dignity, and respect for all participants. This policy supports the club’s mission and ensures compliance with applicable laws and governing-body standards.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all individuals and entities involved with [Club Name], including but not limited to:
- Players
- Parents and guardians
- Coaches, trainers, and referees
- Staff, board members, and volunteers
- Contractors and spectators
This policy applies to all club-related activities, including practices, games, tournaments, travel, meetings, communications, and online or social media conduct connected to the club.
3. Policy Statement
Bend FC does not discriminate against any individual on the basis of a legally protected characteristic under Oregon or federal law. Discrimination in any form is strictly prohibited.
This policy is adopted in alignment with:
- Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) policies
- US Club Soccer standards
- Girls Academy Aspire requirements
- U.S. Soccer Federation SafeSport policies
- Applicable Oregon and federal nondiscrimination laws
4. Protected Characteristics
Bend FC prohibits discrimination based on actual or perceived characteristics, including but not limited to:
- Race, color, or ethnicity
- National origin, ancestry, language, or immigration status
- Sex, gender, gender identity, or gender expression
- Sexual orientation
- Physical, intellectual, or developmental disability
- Religion or belief
- Age
- Socioeconomic status
- Family or marital status
5. Equal Access and Fair Treatment
Bend FC is committed to providing equal access to participation, programs, and opportunities. Decisions related to registration, team placement, coaching, discipline, and access to club resources shall be made fairly and without discrimination.
Reasonable accommodations will be considered when required by law or governing-body standards, provided they do not compromise participant safety or the integrity of club programs.
6. Prohibited Conduct
Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:
- Disparate treatment or exclusion based on a protected characteristic
- Harassment, intimidation, or hostile conduct related to a protected characteristic
- Retaliation against an individual for raising a concern or participating in an investigation
- Conduct that violates SafeSport or youth protection standards
7. Reporting and Response
Individuals who experience or witness conduct inconsistent with this policy are encouraged to report concerns promptly to club leadership or through reporting mechanisms required by OYSA, US Club Soccer, Girls Academy Aspire, or the U.S. Center for SafeSport, as applicable.
Reports will be handled in a timely, respectful, and, to the extent possible, confidential manner. Retaliation against individuals who report concerns in good faith is strictly prohibited.
8. Enforcement
Violations of this policy may result in corrective action, including education, warning, suspension, removal from club activities, or termination of affiliation with [Club Name], consistent with club policies and governing-body procedures.
9. Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed periodically by Bend FC leadership to ensure continued compliance with applicable laws, governing-body requirements, and best practices in youth sports.
