Coming Together for Silver Rail Families & Our Bend Community

In the wake of the tragic events at Silver Rail Elementary School, our hearts remain with the students, families, educators, first responders, and everyone affected. This tragedy has touched our entire Bend community, including many families within our own Bend FC family.

During times like these, we are reminded that community is about more than where we live, work, or play. It is about showing up for one another, offering support when it is needed most, and doing what we can to help those around us.

We believe that being part of a community means taking care of one another, especially during the most difficult times.

Why We Are Offering This Camp

In anticipation of the possibility that Bend-La Pine Schools may need to keep Silver Rail Elementary School closed for an extended period, Bend FC is taking proactive steps to support families who may be facing unexpected challenges.

We understand that many parents and caregivers may need to return to work while also navigating uncertainty surrounding school schedules. We also recognize that children need opportunities to play, connect with friends, enjoy familiar activities, and experience some normalcy during an incredibly difficult time.

Our goal is simple: to provide children with a positive, welcoming, and supportive place to spend their days while giving parents and caregivers one less thing to worry about.

We can open our doors, share our facilities, and bring people together through something we know well: the joy of play.

Camp Information

• Dates: Monday, October 19 – Friday, October 23, 2026
• Hours: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM daily
• Cost: FREE
• Location: Bend FC Soccer Complex at Pine Nursery Park or Bend FC Futsal Center off Reed Market Road
• Who Can Attend: Silver Rail Elementary students and other children in our Bend community who could benefit from this opportunity
• Activities: Soccer, recreational games, group activities, and opportunities to connect with friends

Important Location Information: The final camp location will be determined based on registration numbers and whether indoor or outdoor facilities will best accommodate participants. All registered families will receive an email by Sunday evening, October 18, confirming the location and additional information for Monday morning.

What Children Can Expect

Our Bend FC staff will provide a variety of fun, age-appropriate soccer activities, recreational games, and opportunities for children to spend time together in a positive and supportive environment.

There are no expectations surrounding skill level, performance, or experience. Our focus is on providing children with opportunities to have fun, stay active, connect with others, and simply be kids.

We understand that children and families may be processing recent events differently. Some children may be excited to participate in activities, while others may need more time, patience, or encouragement.

Our staff will approach the week with compassion, flexibility, and an understanding that every child's experience is different.

Above all, we want children to feel welcomed, included, and supported.

Flexible Attendance — Come When You Can

We understand that every family's needs and schedules are different, especially during this time.

Whether your child can attend all five days, just one or two days, or only when your family needs additional support, we still encourage you to register.

There is no requirement to attend the entire week.

We want this opportunity to be accessible to as many families as possible, regardless of whether they need support for one day or the full week.

What Happens if Silver Rail Remains Closed?

We recognize that the days and weeks ahead may bring additional challenges and uncertainty for families.

As Bend-La Pine Schools provides additional information regarding Silver Rail Elementary's reopening, Bend FC will continue evaluating the needs of our community and our ability to extend this free program beyond October 23 if necessary.

Any additional camp dates or extensions will be communicated directly to registered families and through Bend FC's official communication channels.

Our commitment is to remain responsive to the needs of our community and help wherever we reasonably can.

Registration Is Open — Please Help Us Spread the Word

This camp is open to Silver Rail Elementary families and other children in our community who could benefit from a positive, supportive environment during this difficult time.

You do not need to be a current Bend FC member, and your child does not need previous soccer experience to participate.

If your family could benefit from this opportunity, we encourage you to register.

If you know a family who may need support, please share this information with them. Sometimes the simplest way we can help is by making sure someone knows that support is available.
