The Central Oregon Soccer League (COSL) is Bend FC's recreational spring soccer league for players in PreK through 8th grade. Hosted by Bend FC and sanctioned by Oregon Youth Soccer, COSL provides a fun, supportive environment where players of all experience levels can learn, grow, and enjoy the game.

Who Can Register

COSL is open to players in PreK through 8th grade, regardless of experience level.

  • PreK is for players who are at least 4 years old and will enter kindergarten the following school year.
  • Players may not play down a grade.
  • Players may request to play up a grade. Players looking for an additional challenge, including those currently playing competitive soccer, are encouraged to consider this option.
  • Requests to play up require coach approval. Players requesting to play up will attend the first week of practice with the older team. If the coach determines it is not the best fit, the player will be placed on a team in their actual grade.

Registration Fees

  • PreK & Kindergarten: $115
  • 1st through 8th Grade: $155

Your registration fee includes:

  • Team placement
  • Weekly practices and games
  • Opening Jamboree

A $10 sibling discount is automatically applied for each additional player registered from the same household.

Payment is due at the time of registration. If your family needs payment arrangements, please contact cosl@bendfc.com. Financial assistance may also be available.

Professional player photos are offered each season through our league photographer, Shelley Scarborough Photography. Families will receive picture day and ordering information after teams are formed.

Season Information

Registration

Registration is divided into two phases to help us build balanced teams.

  • Round 1 Registration: August 15- November 15
  • Round 2 Registration: December 1- December 31

Registering during Round 1 provides the greatest opportunity to create balanced teams and keep players with others from their school whenever possible.

Practices

  • Practices begin (date TBD).
  • Coaches determine each team's practice day, time, and location after teams are formed.
  • Practice days cannot be requested or guaranteed.

Important Practice Scheduling Information

Practice schedules are typically released around March 15.

Bend FC does not receive final weekday field assignments until early March. As a result, practice days, times, and locations cannot be finalized until approximately two weeks before the season begins.

If your family needs a confirmed practice schedule before mid-March to determine whether the season will work for you, please consider this before registering.

Opening Jamboree

The season begins with our Opening Jamboree on (date TBD).

Games

  • Games begin (Date TBD).
  • We make every effort to schedule games on Saturdays.
  • Due to limited field availability, some games may be scheduled on Sundays or Friday evenings.
  • Friday evening games are played under the lights at the Bend FC Turf Complex.
  • Game schedules are typically available by mid-February.

Coach Communication

Rosters are released as soon as team formation is complete.

Coaches are encouraged to contact their teams as soon as rosters are released and no later than two weeks before the season begins. If a team has not yet been assigned a coach, Bend FC will continue communicating directly with families.

Please verify your communication preferences before the season begins. Families occasionally unsubscribe from league emails and miss important announcements.

Weather

Practices and games are generally held rain or shine but may be canceled or modified due to snow, poor air quality, extreme heat, lightning, or other unsafe conditions.

Weather updates are posted on the COSL homepage and sent to all contacts listed on the player's account, based on each family's communication preferences.

Please refer to the Bend FC Weather Policy for complete weather guidelines.

Uniforms

Players are responsible for providing:

  • COSL or Bend FC JDA gray jersey
  • COSL or Bend FC JDA black jersey
  • Black shorts
  • Black socks
  • Shin guards
  • Soccer cleats

Goalkeepers should also have their own goalkeeper gloves.

Returning players are encouraged to reuse uniforms from previous seasons. Jerseys do not need to match the current year's design as long as they are the correct COSL or Bend FC JDA colors (Black and Gray). Black shorts and socks may also be reused.

New uniforms and replacement items are available through the Bend FC/Capelli Uniform Store which will open the 1st week of January.

Volunteer Information

Volunteer coaches are the heart of our league, and we are always looking for parents who would like to get involved.

The easiest way to volunteer is during your player's registration. This helps us match coaches with their child's team whenever possible.

Parents may also volunteer later using the Volunteer Sign-Up link.

Volunteer coaches must complete:

  • Oregon Youth Soccer Background Check (annually)
  • SafeSport Training
  • Concussion Awareness Training

These requirements must be completed before participating.

Team Formation

Our goal is to create balanced teams while maintaining the integrity of the league.

  • Players are placed with others from their school whenever possible unless another school is requested.
  • Schools may be combined when there are not enough players to form individual teams.
  • Schools are combined based on player numbers, geography, coach availability, and overall league balance.
  • Coach requests are welcomed and considered whenever possible.
  • Friend requests are not accepted.
  • Coaches may encourage players to register but do not determine player assignments.
  • Preferred roster sizes are used whenever possible while maintaining balanced teams.
  • Late registrations are placed on a waitlist and reviewed individually based on available roster space.

We will always do our best to accommodate reasonable requests when they are in the best interest of both the player and the league.

Financial Assistance

We believe every child should have the opportunity to play soccer. Financial assistance is available through Bend FC and the Every Kid Sports Pass. Please visit our Financial Assistance page for eligibility and application information.

Refund Policy

Registration cancellations are subject to the following schedule:

  • Through November 30: Full refund (less a $10 administrative fee)
  • December 1 through December 31: 50% refund (less a $10 administrative fee)
  • Beginning January 1: No refunds

By January, teams are being formed and roster spots are committed. Cancellations after this date impact teammates, coaches, scheduling, and the overall balance of the league.

Practice cancellations due to weather are not made up. If games are canceled due to weather, Bend FC reserves one weekend at the end of the season for make-up games when possible.
